We'll travel on the Flint Hills Scenic Byway to the Tall grass Prairie National Preserve. Don't worry about long walks-we'll take a guided prairie bus tour. We'll leave in time for lunch at the historic 1880s Hays House in Council Grove.
After lunch, we'll head for the Geary County Historical Museum where you will explore and learn about the history of Geary County and Junction City. We'll see the historic C.L. Hoover Opera house known as the jewel of the prairie and take a back stage tour.
Day 2
Travel to Fort Riley, home of the 1st Infantry Division - the Big Red One. You'll visit the U.S. Cavalry Museum, 1st Infantry Division Museum and take in the 1st Territorial Capitol of Kansas where bleeding Kansas began.
Following lunch, we'll travel to the Milford Nature Center and Fish Hatchery. Here you'll learn all about Kansas' rich abundance and variety of wildlife and you'll see the state's only warm-water intensive culture fish hatchery.
