Smithsonian Water/Ways Exhibit Grand Opening

Saturday, January 6, 2018

The Geary County Historical Society invites you to the Grand Opening Ceremony for the Smithsonian Water/Ways Traveling Exhibit. Junction City is honored by being chosen as one of seven towns in the state of Kansas to host and showcase this awesome event. Water/Ways focuses on the numerous relationships between people and water. How has water shaped our history and traditions? How does it impact our daily life? What does the future hold for water? The exhibit, which is possible thanks to a grant from the Kansas Humanities Council, will be in Geary County from January 6 - February 18, 2018. As part of Water/Ways, we are also doing a Geary County focused water exhibit, SubMerged, which will look at how floods impacted our community and led to the construction of the Milford Lake Dam. There will also be a ribbon cutting and guest speaker.
