We strive to keep you informed of what's happening in our county. There are many ways for you to view events.
The Default View is with all of your calendars selected.
  • To view the available calendars, click Select Calendars. Put a check beside the calendars that you want to view and click View Selected Calendars and you will only see the items in the calendars you checked.
  • ToView by Month click on the "<<" or ">>" buttons on the Monthly Calendar.
  • You can also enter a specific date to see the events for that day.
  • You still have the option of viewing a printable month and week’s calendar with your selection of calendars on it.

Adventure Race Training Course - Mar. 12 - Mar. 14
This "Adventure Race Training Course" weekend includes meals, 2 nights free tent camping or lodging, courses, ropes/watercraft gear rental, practice race (20-25 miles). Gear Required: Mountain bike (inquire about rental if you don't have one), bike helmet, backpack, hydration bladder, snacks, compass, utm tool.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Mar. 12
Five lucky children have won the chance of a lifetime to tour Mr. Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. They will have the opportunity to explore all the machinery and inner workings of the mysterious factory where the world's most wonderful candy is made. The children, including Charlie, arrive at the factory and proceed through the front gates. Each is eager to claim the prize. But, one by one, these greedy children pay a price for their shortsightedness, until only Charlie is left. What does the eccentric Willy Wonka want? Who are the unknown factory workers who throw very tiny shadows on the windows and talk in rhyme? As Charlie tries to solve these puzzles, he learns about himself and a simple lesson. Join Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by the world-renowned author, Roald Dahl.

Ceili-Irish Dinner & Dance - Mar. 13
Join the JC Arts Council as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a traditional Ceili. This Irish dinner and dance features the return of the internationally renowned Celtic band Rowan and the Lincoln Irish Dancers from Lincoln, NE. Enjoy the Celtic sounds of Rowan, learn traditional Irish Folk dances, along with a cornbeef and cabbage dinner (alternatives available-RSVP required).

Konza Prairie "Bison Loop" Driving Tour - Mar. 21
Join a Konza Prairie guide for a driving tour of Konza Prairie Biological Station, including a chance to see our herd of 280 Bison up-close. Learn about the tallgrass prairie natural history and ecological research of Konza Prairie. Minimal walking required. All ages and families.

Extreme Spring Sprint Adventure Race - Mar. 28
Choose from two races! "Extreme Break Up" (name is stolen from Alaska, where "break up" refers to Spring, a season of melting snow and ice-it's not really suggesting that teams will break up, though that could happen). 3 or 4 person Co-Ed teams are the official divisions for prizes. Teams will navigate approximately 25 miles in the beautiful and rugged Flint Hills and around the largest lake in Kansas. Good choice for beginner and experienced teams alike, as long as you can find your way on a map! Limited to the first 120 racers registered. In the "Thumper Classic" 3 or 4 person Co-Ed teams are the official divisions for prizes. Teams will cover approximately 12 miles in the beautiful and rugged Flint Hills. They will walk/run about 3 miles, mountain bike about 8 miles, canoe or kayak (provided) about 1 mile and use basic navigation skills. Perfect for beginner teams and families with children ages 8-17. Limited to the first 60 racers registered.

Topeka Symphony - No Strings Attached - Mar. 28
The Topeka Symphony Orchestra has been providing Northeast Kansas with superb live performances since 1946. A nationally-recognized orchestra, the TSO offers a seven-concert series that includes classical, "discovery", and educational concerts. "No Strings Attached" is a program featuring the woodwind, brass and percussion sections. Selections include Handel's "Music for the Royal Fireworks", Dvorak's Serenade for Winds, and the Suite from Kurt Weill's "Threepenny Opera" from which the song "Mack the Knife" is derived.
