  1. Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run

    September 11, 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM @ City Cycle Sales 1021 Goldenbelt Blvd. Junction City, KS

    Competition between motorcycles and riders has been around since the very beginning, and the Cannonball will be no different. This is a run against the clock, where one rider and one machine will claim victory. Around 125 riders will start a two week journey across the United States on motorcycles built before 1936, from Daytona Beach, FL to Tacoma, WA. Now is your chance to see these vintage motorcycles as the Cannonball Motorcycle Endurance Run makes it's one day stop in Junction City, and the vintage motorcycles will be on display to the public.

    The Junction City Little Theater presents "Jesus Christ Superstar"! This infamous Rock Opera chronicles Jesus' meteor-like rise in renown which provides a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship. As his radical teachings are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ's final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality. Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart.

  3. Fort Riley Fall Apple Day Festival

    The Fort Riley Fall Apple Day Festival has something for everyone! Historical re-enactors and the Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard provide a look into the past. Equipment displays and hands-on activities provide a look at the present. A large area is dedicated to consumer displays, which provide information on a wide range of on-post and off-post businesses and organizations. So much to see and do! Family fun events for all ages, petting zoo, bungee trampoline, military helicopter & tank displays, military dog demos, ATV rides and laser firing range! Don't forget to buy one of the famous handmade apple pies!

  4. GCHS Fall Fair & Ice Cream Social

    September 14, 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Geary County Historical Museum 530 N. Adams St. Junction City, KS

    Just as summer fun comes to an end and the new school year gets underway, the Geary County Historical Society brings you their Fall Fair & Ice Cream Social! We will have Munson's homemade ice cream, pies and cakes for sale, whole or by the slice. There will be live entertainment, crafts, vendors and much more! This year be sure to check out the quilt show by the Sunflower Quilters Guild. The quilt show begins on Saturday and runs from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., and then again on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

  8. A Lamb Chop Celebration

    During the 1960s, Shari Lewis had her own musical-comedy network television show. After children's programming turned to animation, she continued to perform in a wide range of venues. Lamb Chop and Shari began their own PBS children's show, Lamb Chop's Play-Along, an Emmy Award winner for five consecutive years. Bring the whole family for an entertaining evening of laughter and song. Introduce the kids to the beloved children's icon Lamb Chop, skillfully brought to life by Shari Lewis' daughter, Mallory Lewis. Fun for all ages, kids will fall in love with Lamb Chop!

  9. Jammin' in JC Blues & BBQ Festival

    September 26 - September 27 @ Heritage Park 6th & Washington St Junction City, KS

    Blues and BBQ...it's a winning combination! Music will fill the air when Jammin' in JC Blues & BBQ Festival brings Texas Style Blues and a four category BBQ contest to historic downtown Junction City. Blues bands will feature local, regional and nationally known artists. This year's lineup includes Mr. Sipp, The Slide Brothers, Little G Weevil, South Side Souls, Levee Town, Terry Quiett Band, Back Porch Blues Band, and Steve Fansler Band. The event kicks off Friday night starting at 5:00 p.m. in Heritage Park. Saturday begins with the BBQ contest. Four divisions will be judged (chicken, beef brisket, pork ribs and pulled pork). Bring your lawn chairs or blankets! No alcohol, coolers or pets are allowed; however food, soft drinks and beer will be available for sale at the event. No tickets needed - Free Admission!     A free event open to the public, showcasing Konza Prairie research and education projects and tallgrass prairie natural history. Activities will include Bison Loop Tours, Children's Junior Ecologist Scavenger Hunt, Tractor Tour of the Konza Headquarters, Guided Trail Hikes, Tour of the Hokanson Homestead and History Tour, Poster Session Showing Konza Reasearch. Here is a chance to tour the bison area with trained guides who explain the management of the tallgrass prairie and the bison herd.
