They define their sound as "high energy country with a Cajun twist". Their tight musicianship and powerful arrangements of classic and original songs have made them favorites everywhere they go. Definitely a show you won't want to miss!

  4. Comedy in Motion: A Cheap Evening of Expensive Theatre

    November 7, 7:30 PM - November 8 @ C.L. Hoover Opera House 135 W. 7th St. Junction City, KS

"Demented, charming and brilliant" is how Allentown's Morning Call described Dan Kamin, who created the physical comedy sequences for Chaplin and Benny and Joon, and trained Robert Downey Jr. and Johnny Depp for their acclaimed starring performances in those popular films. He also trained Rob McClure, the actor currently winning raves for his performance as Chaplin in the new Broadway musical about the comedian. Kamin's own comedic skills will be on display when he performs and in which he'll lampoon "overpaid and egotistical performers of all kinds," including pompous opera singers, obnoxious know-it-all magicians, and feuding "Dancing with the Stars" hopefuls. A show you won't want to miss!

This event is perfect for anyone, whether you are a beginner and want to learn orienteering or whether you are a seasoned adventure racer and want to master the skill. It is also the best event offered all year for families and younger children, since the length of the course is dependent on how far you want to go as a team and only involves trekking (no biking, no paddling). The course will consist of approximately 20 checkpoints and clearing the course will equal about 15 miles of trekking (running or walking) in under 8 hours. But you don't need to clear the course to have an official finish, just get as many checkpoints as you can until you want to be done and call it good. Teams/Solos will be ranked by number of checkpoints, then finish time.

  7. Mission: Wolf

November 9, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ JCHS Freshman Success Academy Gym 300 W. 9th St Junction City, KS

Mission: Wolf is a peaceful wolf sanctuary located in the remote mountains of Colorado. They travel across the country with their ambassador wolves and this will be their final year of touring. The impact that a face to face experience with a wolf has on people cannot be compared to all the videos, books, and photos combined. Come and meet Magpie, she is one of the three wolves that will be at this event. This program is best suited for adults and children over 6 years of age. Very young children making distracting noises will shorten the audience interaction time with the wolves. Please be considerate. Sponsored by the Milford Nature Center, Milford Friends, Innovation in Schools and Community, USD 475, and the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library.

  8. The Cashore Marionettes

    November 13, 7:00 PM @ C.L. Hoover Opera House 135 W. 7th St. Junction City, KS

A performance by the Cashore Marionettes is a celebration of life. The program consists of a collection of engaging pieces encompassing a broad range of themes, each delivered with a simplicity that expresses the essence of the moment. In the performance Life in Motion, Joseph Cashore presents his collection of marionette masterworks. Characters of depth, integrity, and humanity are portrayed in a full evening unlike anything else in theater today. The performance is a series of scenes taken from everyday life and set to beautiful music by composers such as Beethoven, Vivaldi, Strauss, and Copland. Through a combination of virtuoso manipulation, humor, pathos, classic music, and poetic insight, The Cashore Marionettes take the audience on a journey that celebrates the richness of life. Life in Motion is a powerful, entertaining, surprising, theatrically satisfying, one-of-a-kind evening for adults and young adults.
