C. L. Hoover Opera House
135 W. 7th Street
The C.L. Hoover Opera House first opened in January 1882 and stood as the "Jewel of the Prairie" until it was destroyed by fire in 1898. The building featured a striking red-brick structure, with a tall pointed tower and a four-faced clock. Over the years, the building housed city offices, fire station, and progressed to a motion picture theater until 1982.
Placed on the National Historic Register in 2003, complete renovation to restore the elegance and beauty of this magnificent building was undertaken. On October 3, 2008 the Junction City Opera House was renamed the C. L. Hoover Opera House and re-opened it's doors to the performing arts.
Hours of operation: Tuesday - Friday are 10 AM to 5 PM. Closed on Monday.
