Experience the Flint Hills as it was years ago.
Don't be surprised to see deer, turkeys, pheasants, coyotes and other assorted wildlife, as well as native Kansas grasses and wildflowers. You'll find seven miles of trails available to the public on the Konza Prairie. NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ON THE TRAILS! This includes even if they are on a leash.
Located in Geary and Riley County, KONZA Prairie is managed by Kansas State University (KSU) as a natural area research site to study the tallgrass prairie ecosystem.
Make sure you bring your camera, as the beauty of the Flint Hills really shines at Konza Prairie. The best time for photography is early and late.
As you drive east on I-70, just past Junction City, you'll see the big KONZA Prairie sign on your left. Though no public access can be made from I-70, take Exit Number 307 (McDowell Creek) and go north. Travel about 4 miles, the entrance will be on your right.
