Parks
Junction City is a community full of public spaces. Playgrounds, picnic areas, walking and biking trails, river access, ball fields, historic monuments and memorials.
Many local parks offer opportunities to take a walk, play some tennis, have a family picnic, enjoy a softball or baseball game, swim at a pool, take the kids to the playground or sit quietly and enjoy the natural environment.
Many of our parks have facilities that can be reserved for special events. Contact the Parks Department through the Municipal Customer Service Desk at 785-238-3103 to make a reservation.

Bramlage Park
Bramlage Park is located in the 500 Block of Grant Avenue and features playground equipment, basketball courts, covered shelters, picnic tables, and a paved walking trail. Adjacent to Bramlage Park is Junction City's Skate Park.Buffalo Soldier Park
Buffalo Soldier Park and Memorial features a monument recognizing the contributions contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers of the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments. Nine bronze plaques relate the history of Junction City, Fort Riley and the 9th and 10th Cavalry. Located at the intersection of 18th Street and Buffalo Soldier Drive, the park also has playground equipment, a gazebo and several picnic tables.Cleary Park
Cleary Park is adjacent to Rathert Stadium and is home to Blue Jay Softball. The park features:- 2 shelters with electricity
- 2 softball diamonds
- Outdoor basketball courts
- Playground equipment
Coronado Park
Coronado Park, located at the intersection of Ash and Washington Streets, is the home to a monument honoring WWII and Foreign Wars Veterans. The park features lighted tennis courts, horseshoe pits, playground equipment, and a large, covered shelter.Helland Park
The park offers an escape from the city without having to leave its limits. Just north of the bridge on Rucker Road, the 57 acre park offers 2.5 miles of trails and close up encounters with nature. It is ideal for hiking and mountain biking.
Heritage Park
Heritage Park, located at the intersection of West 6th and North Washington Streets, is Junction City's central public space. Right in the heart of the Downtown District, the park serves as the site for many community events. Heritage Park is home to the Civil War Arch, State of Kansas Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 1st Infantry Division Memorial, Junction City/Geary County Law Enforcement Memorial a bandstand and water fountain that shoots water up to 12 feet in the air.Homer's Pond
A great family fishing pond that is stocked with catfish and bass. The pond features several picnic areas, shelter with BBQ, observation deck and a walking/running path that runs around the lake. A water fountain highlights the center of the pond. Homer's Pond is in the 100 Block of North Eisenhower Drive.Martin Luther King Jr. Park
Martin Luther King Jr. Park is at the intersection of East 12th and North Franklin Streets. The park has playground equipment, a covered picnic shelter, and a basketball court.Playground Park
Playground Park, at the intersection of 5th and Eisenhower Drive, features the following amenities:
- 5 tennis courts
- Handball court
- Large grassy area
- Large, covered shelter with electricity
- Picnic tables
- Playground equipment
- Sand volleyball court
Pool and Sprayground
The Junction City Municipal Pool and Sprayground are also housed in this complex and feature an Olympic size pool with three diving boards and a 28 feet tall triple tube slide. This facility also includes a sprayground complex featuring:
- 1 directional jet rail
- 1 jellyfish tower
- 3 crown jets
- 3 water cannons
- 4 pumping jets
- 8 foam jets
- Palm tree that sprays water
Riverwalk Landing
Riverwalk Landing is Junction City's newest park, Here you can sit, relax and watch the sun go down. Features a large pond, walking trail and gazebo. This new park is located on the 200 Block of East Ash Street.Sertoma Park
This park sits on 5.3 acres and contains a baseball field, sand volleyball court, picnic area restrooms and covered shelter. Located at 900 East 6th Street.South & North Park
South and North Park are known for their excellent softball fields, and are popular sites for softball tournaments.South Park features three softball fields, playground equipment, horseshoe pits, covered shelter, restrooms and a 1.2 mile paved walking trail.
North Park features three fields, covered dugouts, playground, restrooms and concession stand and a great place to fly a kite!
The Bluffs Park
The Bluffs Park has a small lake, hiking and biking trails, playground equipment and picnic tables. The Bluffs Park is located at the entrance of the Bluffs Apartment complex, on Goldenbelt Boulevard and Caroline Avenue.-
