Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad's Completion! Union Pacific's historic Big Boy steam locomotive No. 4014 is touring the Union Pacific system throughout 2019 to commemorate the transcontinental railroad's 150th anniversary and will be stopping in Junction City! The Big Boy's return to the rails is the product of more than two years of meticulous restoration work by the Union Pacific Steam Team. No. 4014 is the world's only operating Big Boy locomotive. If you are coming to see the steam locomotive, please stand back at least 25 feet from all railroad tracks. Railroad tracks, trestles, yards and right-of-way are private property - please do not trespass.

Floats, bands, lights and the arrival of Santa Claus! Celebrate the opening of the Christmas season as Santa arrives to turn on the lights in Heritage Park. Parade route starts at the Junction City High School and runs along 6th Street to Heritage Park. This year's theme for the parade is, "It's a Wonderful Life!" Deadline to register your float/entry is November 27, 2019.
